The Balance of power in 2020

Today's developing economies, will they be the future superpowers? The year 2006 marked 15 years since the end of the Cold War. with the United States as the world's sole remaining superpower. As the global balance of power shifts, with complex and competing interests playing themselves out on the world stage, will this remain true? China and India emerge as major new economic players; other countries like Brazil, Indonesia, and Russia are poised to achieve significant economic growth. Questions regarding international relations, fooreign policy, the role of the United States and the geopolitical landscape of the future, among others were considered during this Conference with a distinguished group of nationally recognized experts such as Elizabeth Economy of the Council on Foreign Relations, Thomas Fingar of the National Intelligence Council, Jeffrey Garten of the Yale School of Management, Chas Freeman, former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and the conference chair J. Stapleton Roy, former Ambassador to China, Indonesia, and Singapore.
