Event Details

Mark Hanis, the grandchild of four Holocaust survivors, is working to build a permanent anti-genocide movement. Hanis presents opportunities for individuals to have a direct impact on the ground where genocide is occurring: from projects in Darfur that provide protection for women and girls in refugee camps to monitoring and prevention programs in conflict areas such as Burma. He joins the Council to discuss how empowering individuals to stand against genocide can change the way the international community responds to the world’s worst crimes against humanity.

This event is co-sponsored by the International Development Exchange, Human Rights Watch and the Human Rights Center at UC Berkeley.
