Event Details

Whether you’re interested in working internationally or are a transplant from abroad, this interactive event will uncover nuances and practices in communication styles in the US and other places around the world. Many people who come from overseas to the United States to work think that they understand how Americans speak and, in turn, how to speak to them. However, American forms of business communication are more complex than is first evident and this lively session will highlight how to recognize some of the nuances and whether what you hear is really what you get.

Dr. Blendstrup specializes in individualized, inter-cultural business communication training, accent reduction, presentation skill coaching, and regularly teaches US business communication skills to international executives in the Silicon Valley as well as classes at Stanford University. Following the presentation, the Young Professionals International Forum will host a wine reception where people of all ages will have the opportunity to mingle, network and discuss world affairs.

Check-in: 6:00 PM, Program: 6:30 PM, Reception: 7:30 PM
